Byndr now understands collecting strategies. Search for "female characters from EB03" or "red Leader cards" and get instant, filtered results — no more scrolling through entire sets.

Smart Search: Find One Piece Cards by Strategy

Smart Search Is Here — Collect by Strategy, Not Just by Name#

Finding cards by typing a character name works fine when you know exactly what you're looking for. But most collectors think differently. You want all female characters across the Heroines Edition. You want every red Leader card in the current meta sets. You want to hunt a specific archetype across dozens of releases.

Byndr's new Smart Search is built for exactly that kind of collecting.

What Smart Search Can Do#

Instead of searching for a card name, you can now describe what you want in plain language — in English or German. The search engine picks apart your query, identifies the filters that apply, and returns matching cards directly from the local card database.

Some examples of what works today:

  • female characters EB03 — all cards featuring female characters in the Heroines Edition
  • red Leader cards — every Leader card with red color identity
  • marine cards OP01 — Navy-affiliated characters from Romance Dawn
  • events under 3 cost — cheap Event cards across all synced sets
  • villain characters — antagonist cards across the full card pool
  • weibliche Charaktere EB03 — same query, in German

When Smart Search detects a strategy query, it shows exactly which filters it applied as chips above the results — so you always know what the search understood.

Why EB03 Is the Perfect Starting Point#

One Piece Extra Booster 03 — the Heroines Edition — is a set designed around female characters from the One Piece universe. Collectors building a gender-themed collection, or anyone interested in the Heroines Edition specifically, can now search female characters EB03 and get every relevant card without manually checking each one.

The same logic applies to any thematic set. Smart Search knows about boosters OP01 through OP15, all Extra Boosters (EB01–EB04), Starter Decks, and Premium Boosters. Any combination of set and strategy filters works together.

How the Tag System Works#

Behind the scenes, every One Piece card in the Byndr database is now enriched with semantic tags during the sync process. Cards are automatically tagged based on their name and the character they depict:

  • female — characters identified as female across the One Piece universe
  • marine — Navy and Marine-affiliated characters
  • villain — major antagonists across arcs
  • straw-hat — Straw Hat Pirates crew members
  • warlord — Seven Warlords of the Sea
  • yonko — Four Emperors
  • rookie — Worst Generation / Supernovas

Cards are also indexed by color, card type (Leader, Character, Event, Stage), cost, and power. All of this runs from the local cache — no external API calls, instant results.

Using Smart Search in the App#

Open any One Piece collection project and go to the Search tab. The search field now shows a hint about strategy queries. Below the input, you'll find example searches highlighted in accent color — tap any of them to try it immediately.

When a strategy query is recognized, the result header shows the total card count and a row of filter chips. Each chip tells you what was matched: set, color, card type, and which tags were applied. If you're looking at results from red Leader cards OP04, you'll see chips for Set: OP04, Red, and Leader right above the grid.

Regular name searches — typing Nami, Luffy, or a card number — continue to work exactly as before. Smart Search only activates when the query contains recognizable filter keywords.

What's Coming Next#

This first version of Smart Search covers One Piece. The underlying tag and filter architecture is designed to extend to other TCGs without changes to the core system — Pokémon collector strategies (by stage, type, or legendary status) and MTG queries (by color identity, card type, or mechanic) are a natural next step as those card pools grow on the platform.
